Effect of Plant Essential Oil on Growth Performance and Immune Function During Rearing Period in Laying Hens Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Gao,J; Liu,W; Geng,B; Lei,Q; Han,H; Zhou,Y; Liu,J; Cao,D; Li,H; Li,F.
ABSTRACT The effects of plant essential oil (PEO) on the production performance and immune function of laying hens were evaluated to provide theoretical basis for promoting the natural plant extracts. Eight thousand 1-day-old healthy laying hens were randomly divided into a control group or PEO group, with four replicates per treatment and 1000 hens per replicate. The PEO diet was supplemented with 3g/kg plant extract. Diets were fed for 56 days. The tibia length and keel length were detected on an empty stomach at the end of the trial. Blood samples were collected on the 28th and 56th days to detect the level of C3, C4, IL-1, IL-2, IL-17 and immunoglobulin in the serum. The results showed that, compared with the control, PEO supplementation significantly...

Immune Regulatory Effects of Enteromorphaclathrata Polysaccharides on Nd Attenuated Vaccine in a Chicken Model Infected with Reticuloendotheliosis Virus Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Sun,Q; Shen,M; Li,F; Liu,J; Lu,L; Zhu,M; Yuan,D.
ABSTRACT Reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV) infection has frequently affected the poultry industry in recent years. The infection with REV weakens the immune responses of the infected poultry. It is reported that Enteromorphaclathrata polysaccharides are capable of regulating immune function. In order to investigate the immuno regulatory effects of Enteromorphaclathrata polysaccharides (EPS) on the response of REV-infected broilers to a live attenuated Newcastle disease (ND) vaccine. Broilers were intraperitoneally injected with REV at one day of age, subcutaneously infected with EPS at 2 days of age, and vaccinated by nasal drip with a live attenuated ND (Lasota strain) vaccine at 5 days of age. Immune organ index, secretory immunoglobulinA (SIgA),...

The Gene Ontology Differs in Bursa of Fabricius Between Two Breeds of Ducks Post Hatching by Enriching the Differentially Expressed Genes Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Liu,H; Liu,J; Zhang,T; Li,L; Wang,J; Han,C; He,H.
ABSTRACT The bursa of Fabricius (BF) is the central humoral immune organ unique to birds. The present study investigated the possible difference on a molecular level between two duck breeds. The digital gene expression profiling (DGE) technology was used to enrich the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in BF between the Jianchang and Nonghua-P strains of ducks. DGE data identified 195 DEGs in the bursa. Gene Ontology (GO) analysis suggested that DEGs were mainly enriched in the metabolic pathways and ribosome components. Pathways analysis identified the spliceosome, RNA transport, RNA degradation process, Jak-STAT signaling pathway, TNF signaling pathway and B cell receptor signaling pathway. The results indicated that the main difference in the BF...

Total aboveground plant biomass is more strongly affected by climate than species diversity on a grassland in Liaoning, China Phyton
Zhou,C; Busso,C; Liu,J; Yang,YG; Sun,Y; Fang,YZ; Zhang,QQ; Zhou,YB; Wang,YN; Zhang,Z; Wang,ZW; Yang,YF.
The objective of this study was to analyze the relationships between total aboveground plant biomass versus altitude, latitude, longitude, mean annual temperature, mean annual precipitation, and species diversity. Simple linear regression analysis was used to study these relationships. Results showed that altitude was significantly, positively (R² = 0.038, P<0.01) related with total plant aboveground biomass. Meanwhile, when longitude (R² = 0.124, P<0.001) and latitude (R² = 0.221, P<0.001) increased, total aboveground biomass decreased. The relationship between biomass and mean annual precipitation was significantly, positively linear (R² = 0.149, P<0.001). Mean annual temperature was signifcantly, negatively correlated with biomass (R² =...
